Wordpress consulted Free Software lawyers about the GPL license in regards to themes and graphics in wordpress.
The quote from the lawyer was a little long so I didn’t read it. But I did read through the free software manifesto on the GNU website.
On that page they have a link to an article on the difference between open source and free software.
I’ve read quite a bit about the free software and the open source movements in various books and thought I knew something of the difference. I also have been using open source CMS for my websites since 2003 and I have been using and monkeying around with GNU Linux (asterisk project|puppy linux) as my operating system of choice since late 2007 (although I have known and used it as far back as 2002 – RedHat).
What is the difference? I’m not really sure.
I know that free software (software released under GPL) is open source, as in you have full access to the source code.
But I am guessing that software claiming to be open source may not necessarily be GPL free software if it does not give all four of the freedoms offered under GPL.
Confusing.
Installing printer on Linux, so I, this is installing printer that(?) has(?), it’s an Epson Stylus CX7800 printer, and with Puppy(?) Linux you can use CUPS. It stands for Common Unix Printing System, I think, but anyway, I installed the printer using that, and I’m gonna test it out once I get some ink, so… listen

Why I love Linux. Linux is pretty cool. If you read the earlier post, installed puppy Linux on an old computer I have and so right now I’m playing with puppy Linux and I just went through the Alsa audio configuration, so I just configured audio on it and I installed some flash and stuff so to celebrate I went over to you tube and watched some Linux versus Mac versus PCs group. listen

Successfully installed case fan, I just installed the case fan into the Dell computer that had, and I turn it on and ran Puppy Linux on it. It’s all looking good, the ____ one is great and it’s even got a cool glow to it, it’s like a fluorescent orange with fluorescent blue beams(?) and actually glows when it runs, it’s kind of cool. But, anyway it’s working so I just put some other stuff in new hard drives and CD R/W drive.

Rebuilding the Dell computer. I wanna rebuild this old Dell but I have–I need to get a hard drive and systems and also eBay so I am going to check on eBay later to see what kind of prices I have to pay for that. I think it’s pretty cheap as I don’t know exactly for hard drives how much they are, but I am assuming that these fans are gonna be real cheep because they’re just little plastic things but I don’t know if it’s gonna work even once I get that together, as far as the hard drive, actually don’t need the hard drive to run something like Puppy Linux coz they can run right on RAM so, I think the first thing I’m gonna do is get the system fan and then worry about buying a hard drive later, today I just wanna think of it right now… listen

Installing Puppy Linux. I just installed Puppy Linux, actually I installed it a few days ago on an old Compaq that I bought back in 2001 that has only 128 megabytes of RAM. Even with that small amount of Ram you can install Puppy Linux easily. Its an amazing program, easy to install. And then once I installed it I used the Puppy packages under set up to install FireFox and GIMP Image Program and also ThunderBird and I’m gonna install listen
