Check-Calendar System

Half checklist, Half Calendar… all habitude!

I think Ben Franklin would approve. So would Jerry Seinfeld.

A proven system for eradicating bad habits, adding new good ones, and changing ones life.

The Taiyo Johnson “Check-Calendar” system:

Here is how it works. Use a sheet to track how good orbad you do with [blank] (example: not smoking).

For the days that you fail, put an X. (you might also want to record the day of the week. more on that below).

For the day that you succeed, put a number. Start with a “1″ and number sequentially everyday that you do not fail. The goal is to not break the success chain. For example:

1 2 3 4 X X 1 2 X 1

The all in one month check-calendar version

Here is a version that puts the subjects next to one another. That way you can see cause and effect. For example, if your stress causes you to smoke, create one line for “stress” and another for “smoking.” You may learn good things about your habits like when you manage your stress you don’t have problems with smoking.

Personal I learnt by monitoring the days of the week that I failed on that mostly it was on the same day and so I could identify the causes and combat them with extra vigilance on that day.
