6 years of debt

I purchased a Hyundai Accent GS hatchback ”3 door” (they call the hatchback a 3rd door…) with the bank’s money :-(

The cheapest new make/model available. Still I hate to have this debt.

carbuyingtips.com is an excellent source of info on buying cars. I created a checklist for dealing with the dealer based on their tips. I plan to post it here soon. (If it is not posted yet and you want a copy, email me)

More thoughts on GoogleCasting

Weblogtools did a poll and a post about the best way to post to wordpress and (very sadly) posting by phone received NO mention :(

So I had to comment in there and mention the GoogleCasting method I have been using recently.

I like the way Ward Mundy over at NerdVittles thinks.
He has some interesting Voip nerd posts recently about Google Voice, Asterisk, and Gizmo hacks
And Google Voice losing SIP

I had read NerdVittles in the past when I was tinkering with Asterisk.
I’ll have to check him out again for more GoogleCasting ideas and tricks.

WordPress : free software or open source (semantics?)

WordPress consulted Free Software lawyers about the GPL license in regards to themes and graphics in wordpress.

The quote from the lawyer was a little long so I didn’t read it. But I did read through the free software manifesto on the GNU website.

On that page they have a link to an article on the difference between open source and free software.

I’ve read quite a bit about the free software and the open source movements in various books and thought I knew something of the difference. I also have been using open source CMS for my websites since 2003 and I have been using and monkeying around with GNU Linux (asterisk project|puppy linux) as my operating system of choice since late 2007 (although I have known and used it as far back as 2002 – RedHat).

What is the difference? I’m not really sure.
I know that free software (software released under GPL) is open source, as in you have full access to the source code.
But I am guessing that software claiming to be open source may not necessarily be GPL free software if it does not give all four of the freedoms offered under GPL.

Confusing.

"GoogleCasting" the ebook – How to use Google Voice for push button podcasting

Today I finished the first edition of an ebook about what I call GoogleCasting.

You can get a free copy of it by signing up for my newsletter. It is a work and progress and I will be releasing future editions of it free to people who subscribe to the newsletter now. Hope you enjoy it.

Here is a [lame] example of a “GoogleCast”

Here is a sneak preview of the ebook:

Why you might want to GoogleCast

What is a GoogleCast?

A GoogleCast is when you call your Google Voice phone number and you record the call using Google Voice’s features. You talk about whatever tickles your fancy and then you can embed the recording of the call into a blog post on wordpress or other blog software. Google also transcribes your voice into text.

The Benefits

  • express your ideas instantly where/whenever you are inspired.
If you wait to post or record later you would have the same energy and enthusiasm.

  • let someone else do the typing
Google Voice converts voice-to-text. (Currently this feature is sub par at best, but when Google gets its act together it will be great.)

  • long (unlimited?) talk time, compared to the 30 seconds you receive with services like Jott.com.
  • Turning phone-interviews into podcasts takes just one click and NO extra software or hardware!!!!
  • Did I mention this is all FREE?

Subcribe and get a copy of the ebook free. Here’s that subscribe form:

13 Month Calendar System – a monotone GoogleCast

Hi. In this Google Voice recording or “GoogleCast” (hey, I just coined a new term!) I talk about my 13 month calendar system.

This is not a very organised Googlecast and it is also a bit monotonous. But if you can catch my point about the 13 month system I think it will benefit you.
I plan to talk much more about my 13 month system in the future. For now try to enjoy the monotony :)

Google Voice Test

I setup a email-to-blog hack on this site but haven’t integrated everything yet.

I just realised that Google Voice also has an “embed” option on all recorded messages too. So I just embedded it. I love Google…

wordpress.com can be exported…

wordpress.com can be exported to a WordPress self posted site. So what I do is I blog to wordpress.com from dial2do and then.

So. WordPress self posted…

So. WordPress self posted blogs you can’t use dial2do directly. First I tried to get around that by blogging by email through dial2do. But that wasn’t ideal so.
